Saxton Bampfylde: new employee owners
CLIENT STORY

Challenge

Saxton Bampfylde is one of the world’s leading boutique independent executive search and assessment practices.  Established in 1986, it works closely with a broad range of clients who appreciate their unique and thorough approach.  A key strength of the organisation is its focus on creating an environment where individual employees at all levels can grow to their fullest extent emotionally, intellectually and spiritually.  The challenge facing Saxton Bampfylde was how to safeguard and reinforce this culture, while continuing to grow the business and addressing ownership succession.

Solution and outcome

Research is at the heart of almost everything Saxton Bampfylde does and its approach to the above challenge reflected this.  This included consultation with Baxendale and ultimately working with us to design and implement the right structure for Saxton Bampfylde.  Employee ownership was identified as the best structure for the organisation, but only after a careful review of all the available options.  This ultimately involved the creation of a special trust that now holds ownership of the business for the benefit of all Saxton Bampfylde partners (all employees are referred to as partners).  Engagement with all partners during and after the transition was a key focus throughout.

“We particularly value the fact that Baxendale listens. They gave us a thorough appraisal of the many options we explored and guided us to a solution which fits us so well. We are tremendously excited about employee ownership.” – James Kempton, Finance Director.
